Hello Class Blue :-)

I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Here are some activities to keep you busy this week 🙂

Reading – continue to use the Collins Big Cat free ebooks and selection of downloadable worksheets. There is access to 330+ ebooks so below is a fun book scavenger hunt you can take part in

Story – This week I would like you to listen to the story of The Cautious Caterpillar  on the following link. https://www.twinkl.ie/resource/t-l-526203-the-cautious-caterpillar-ebook

Oral Language – Chat about the story using the talk cards attached. file:///C:/Users/HP/Desktop/The%20cautions%20caterpillar%20talk%20cards.pdf

Writing – Sequence the story of  The Cautious Caterpillar using the picture cards attached. Discuss what is happening in each picture card and with help create a sentence on each picture using your whiteboard. Practice writing under the sentence/tracing/hand over hand. Some of the children were enjoying word searches before we left so here is one on the story

Maths – Continue to practice colour and shape recognition. The activity below is a fun interactive way of learning through movement. Listen to the instructions of an adult or sibling and place your hands on the colours requested and in the correct order! you will need to listen very carefully 🙂

This activity can be altered by changing the coloured pieces of paper to pictures of coloured 2D and 3D shapes. Can you remember the shape and colour you were asked to put your hand on? Can you listen to and repeat the 1, 2 or maybe even 3 step instruction?

Time – This week we will be looking at time. We have completed lots of work on time in relation to days of the week, months of the years and seasons. I want you to create  your “day book”. Using 5 pieces of paper, draw/write the first thing you do each day on one strip of paper. Think about the last thing you do each day and draw that on the last piece of paper. Now, think about the other things you do during the day and fill in the remaining strips of paper. Develop vocabulary associated with various times of the day such as before, after, morning, afternoon, evening, earlier, later. Here is a “when” sorting activity. Look at the picture card, listen to the question and put the picture card onto the correct board. https://content.twinkl.co.uk/resource/90/fb/t-s-611-when-sorting-activity-_ver_2.pdf?__token__=exp=1587937639~acl=%2Fresource%2F90%2Ffb%2Ft-s-611-when-sorting-activity-_ver_2.pdf%2A~hmac=c98038f60c572b0bd8da1fbdf98db56f89d35dc70cdeae72b6ad4a6643cd46e4

Spring Walk – With the beautiful weather we are having, it is the perfect opportunity to go on a spring walk. Observe your surroundings and look out for some signs of Spring. Bring a clipboard and see if you can collect the list below 🙂

Art – Get creative and messy using the instructions below to create your very own caterpillar using your handprints!

Music – The Hungry Caterpillar by the learning station is a fun spring activity song where you can sing and play along as you learn about the transformation of the caterpillar to a butterfly. Class blue love to sing and dance! https://www.learningstationmusic.com/blog/2014/04/24/hungry-caterpillar-lyrics-spring-songs-childen/

Sinead, Jo and I are missing you all so much! Have a lovely week!
